The Department of Surface Transport has nine Regional Offices spread across the country and they are responsible for road and bridge construction, maintenance, and safety operations within their designated jurisdiction to ensure efficient management and delivery of transportation infrastructure services. Coordinates MoIT programs and services in Thimphu and surrounding western Dzongkhags. Acts as a key link between the Head Office and local authorities.
Supports implementation of MoIT policies and regional activities.
Provides coordination and administrative assistance to local institutions.
Oversees MoIT initiatives across the central region.
Ensures effective delivery of information, communication, and transport services.
Serves as the main regional office for eastern Bhutan.
Strengthens access to MoIT services and regional coordination.
Supports monitoring and coordination of MoIT programs in the region. Facilitates communication between the ministry and local governments.
Coordinates MoIT services in the southern region.
Supports transport, ICT, and public service delivery.
Supports MoIT services in eastern border Dzongkhags. Works closely with local authorities for effective service delivery.
Manages MoIT coordination in Bhutan’s main commercial hub. Supports infrastructure, ICT, and border-related services.
Supports MoIT programs in remote and developing areas. Promotes inclusive access to information and transport services.
