The Royal Government of Bhutan has secured financing from the World Bank for the Accelerating Transport and Trade Connectivity in Eastern South Asia (ACCESS), Phase II Bhutan Project. A part of the project is implemented by the Department of Surface Transport (DoST), Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MoIT). The project aims to enhance the efficiency and resilience of trade, transport, and digital connectivity along selected corridors in Bhutan.
One of the key activities under the project is the construction of Gelephu – Tareythang Road and bridges. The proposed works include a 14.00 km road comprising five major bridges, including 1005 long Mau River bridge, with a total estimated cost of US$ 190 million. To assess market capacity, promote competition, and ensure value for money, an Early Market Engagement (EME) for works will be held on March 30, 2026 at 15:00 (GMT+6).
The meeting will be conducted in hybrid mode, in person attendance at MoIT Conference Hall for national contractors and virtual participation for international contractors.
